India’s national carrier Air India suspended its Regional Director for East, Rohit Bhasin, for allegedly shoplifting from a duty-free shop at Sydney airport in Australia.
Rohit Bhasin was suspended after the Australian regional manager reported the incident to the Air India management. Bhasin shoplifted the wallet before the departure of flight at 10.45 am from Sydney for Delhi on 22nd June.
Air India in its official statement has placed the officer “under suspension with immediate effect”. An enquiry has been initiated until which Mr. Bhasin can’t enter Air India premises or leave Kolkata without written permission from the management.
To add to Bhasin’s woes, he won’t be allowed to “engage in any other employment or avocation” until the findings of the enquiry are submitted.
The management also made it clear that, “Air India lays the highest stress on the proper conduct of its staff and has a zero-tolerance policy towards acts of impropriety.”
