San Diego’s Jiwandeep Kohli won the internet by posting his picture in a rainbow turban celebrating the Pride Month 2019. Social media, especially Twitter shared it thousands of times before it caught the eye of former US President Barack Obama.
The former US President not only shared Kohli’s rainbow turban, but also had a message.
You've got a lot to be proud of, Jiwandeep. Thanks for everything you do to make this country a little more equal. Turban looks great, by the way. Happy Pride Month, everybody! https://t.co/SO7mgnOkgl

Jiwandeep Kohli who identified himself as “bisexual bearded baking brain scientist,” is also a amateur pastry chef and part time photographer. He says he is fortunate to be able to express all these aspects of his identity, and will continue to work toward ensuring the same freedom for others.
Impressed by Kohli, Barack Obama said, “You’ve got a lot to be proud of, Jiwandeep. Thanks for everything you do to make this country a little more equal. Turban looks great, by the way. Happy Pride Month, everybody!”
For those who were unaware, Kohli added that the rainbow turban was not an accessory, but it represents, “A sign to the world that you’re a person the world can turn to for help.”
Pride Month kicked off on 1st June and it honours the LGBTQ community while commemorating New York’s Stonewall riots in June 1969 that signalled a turning point in the movement for equal rights.
