Akash Vijayvargiya, the son of senior BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya walked out of jail on bail early this morning. He was garlanded by party workers as he walked out of prison four days after his arrest for thrashing a civic body official in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore. Party workers also fired shots in the air at the BJP office on Saturday to celebrate his release.
“I am not guilty or embarrassed about what I did as it was in public interest… I will keep working for the betterment of the region and the public. I pray to god that I should not be given another opportunity to pick up the bat,” Vijayvargiya told meda personals after walking out of prison.
After his release he went straight to the party office where he war garlanded again. He was welcomed with a traditional aarti at his home, and sweets were distributed to police personnels working on duty.
Vijayvargiya, a first time MLA from Indore/3 was spotted assaulting a civic body official in Indore on Wednesday with a cricket bat. The entire incident was captured on camera and was shared widely on social media.
The official was beaten up because he along with his team were on an anti-encroachment drive when they were approached by Akash Vijayvargiya and his supporters. “You should leave within five minutes or else whatever happens after that will be your responsibility,” Mr Vijayvargiya threatened officers.
