After the disappointment of the Supreme Court hearing in delaying the Ayodhya case, the Yogi Government in Uttar Pradesh plans to build a statue of Lord Ram, in Ayodhya.
The announcement is going to be made public on the occasion of Diwali, scheduled next week. The statue is expected to be just like the ‘Statue of Unity’, above 100 meters.
If this is true, this seems to be an appeasement for the Hindu community in wake of elections scheduled next year. Even if its built on half the scale of statue of Unity’, it’ll cost the exchequer RS. 1500 cr. The statue of unity has faced huge criticism in local and international media. The opposition called the inaugural of Patel statue a publicity stunt.
Frankly the statue politics may feed you votes, but it won’t fill stomachs of the millions of poor in our nation. Uplifting the weaker sections should be any governments priority, at present our priorities seem misplaced.
