Rahul Gandhi’s “sarcastic” tweet mocks Indian Army, dogs, Yoga and “New India”

The Congress President Rahul Gandhi tweeted a photograph of the Indian Army dogs performing Yoga along with their handlers on the occasion of International Yoga Day. Social media erupted in a storm after Mr. Gandhi managed to mock the “army, a dog unit and the yoga tradition” in a single tweet.
Member of Parliament from Kerala’s Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi tweeted the picture with caption “New India”. The Congress President was sarcastic about the Narendra Modi government’s popular slogan once, “New India”.

Anti-Rahul Gandhi and the Congress Party connected the tweet to the debacle in the Lok Sabha elections. BJP MP from Bengaluru South Tejasvi Surya tweeted, “Ok. He still hasn’t learnt his lessons. In one go, he has insulted our Army, brave Jawans, the incredible dog unit, Yoga tradition & our country. I feel really sad for all the young Congress workers (if there are any left) that they have to deal with this man as their leader.”
Below are a few reactions from social media regarding Mr. Gandhi’s “sarcastic” tweet –
Congress stands for negativity.
Today, their negativity was seen in their clear support to the medieval practice of Triple Talaq. Now, they mock Yoga Day and insult our forces (yet again!)
Hoping the spirit of positivity will prevail. It can help overcome toughest challenges. https://t.co/sC00yrBcpA

Not sure of what @RahulGandhi problem with the Army’s dog squad doing Yoga is. The Indian Army’s dogs are highly trained and very valuable companions of soldiers both in peace time and during combat. Who is he mocking? The jawans or the dogs? Unless the joke is on him. https://t.co/k8aRGV2xI2

A tweet in poor taste Mr @RahulGandhi . Have every right to question the Modi Govt, but this is where twitter-driven politics has literally gone to the dogs!! https://t.co/sRmcwWuxxe
