Sanjay Manjrekar trolled, petition started to remove him from commentary

Cricketer turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar was trolled on social media. Manjrekar who is a part of the commentary team in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 irked fans after they felt that his commentary was biased.

Sanjay Manjrekar has been a vocal critic of the batting style of MS Dhoni lately. The former cricketer feels that Dhoni isn’t adventurous under pressure situations and doesn’t puts his wicket at risk. “Here’s something interesting about  Dhoni -. 41 off 87 balls v spin this WC. But in the warm up games 69 off 56 balls v spin. That tells me it’s mental too. He does not put his wicket on the line as much in the big games,” Manjrekar tweeted.

Below are a few reactions from social media:-

Fans also started a petition in change.org to stop Manjrekar from the commentary box.

The petition reads, “Petition to ICC to ban Sanjay Manjrekar from commentary box from the ongoing CWC 2019. He talks so biased towards certain teams and even certain players. His talks have no cricketing sense at all. It seems no one has any idea why he’s on the commentators panel still. Listening to the commentary of Sanjay Manjrekar I want to erase any memories of watching cricket and forget it for once and all. We cricket fans don’t deserve this. People pay to watch the CWC 2019 and they deserve justice.”

During his early days, Sanjay Manjrekar played international cricket for India from 1987 until 1996 as a right-handed middle order batsman. He scored just over two thousand runs in Test cricket at an average of 37.14. He occasionally played as wicket-keeper.
