Tamil Nadu Information Technology Minister Manikandan on Tuesday, said he would write to the Central government to push for a ban on Video sharing platform TikTok.
The state government wants the central government to take steps to ban TikTok just like they took steps to ban the blue whale challenge. The Government feels that people were misusing TikTok by uploading inappropriate videos on the platform.
Pattali Makkal Katchi founder Dr S. Ramadoss had demanded for a ban on the application in January 2019. He says that such apps were colouring young people’s’ minds, he further said that several other nations like US and France expressed reservations with the app.
Another neighbouring state Goa, State Information Technology Minister Rohan Khaunte said that there should be law in the state to curb multiplayer games like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds a.k.a PUBG.
“I am not aware of states banning PUBG but some law has to be made to ensure there is a restriction on it in Goa. PUBG has become a demon in every house. Students, instead of studying, are engrossed in playing PUBG,” Minister Rohan Khaunte said at government event recently.
Earlier in the state of Gujarat, Women’s Commission sent notice to all districts to ban PUBG in schools. Also in the state of Maharashtra a 11 year old boy filed a petition in the Bombay High Court demanding for a ban on PUBG.
